You may have seen a mass of women with brightly colored shirts out on the running trails or at a local race and wondered, ‘What is Moms on the Run?’ Here is more information about this homegrown Minnesota running group.
When a group of moms meeting in a local park decided they wanted to spice up their post-baby fitness journey by training for a 5K race, Moms on the Run was born. The first class was held in the spring of 2008, in Forest Lake, Minnesota. Today, 10 years later, Moms on the Run is a nationally franchised running company with more than 40 locations in six states — and growing.
Moms on the Run is for all women — not just moms — who want to get out on the trails, improve their running and have fun doing so. There are 37 locations in the Twin Cities metro area and greater Minnesota, so it’s easy to find a group near you! Most locations offer sessions year-round. Fall season is 8-weeks of high-intensity interval training accomplished by running or walking, complete with strength training and added endurance runs to help our runners maintain the mileage they have built up over the summer. During the winter, Moms on the Run offers Polar Run Club and sometimes indoor classes, and during the spring/summer season, we offer our signature learn-to-run 5k training as well as intermediate and advanced running programs. These conclude each year with our Moms on the Run 5K/10K and Family Fun Fest at the end of August. Moms on the Run also partners with the MN RUN Series on Goldy's Run and Reindeer Run.
Plan ahead and mark your calendars now! Nov 9-11, 2019, Moms on the Run is offering a Fall Run Retreat/Girls’ Getaway at Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria, MN. Led by Olympian and MOTR National Fitness Director Carrie Tollefson, this retreat will be an inspiring and adventurous weekend focused on running, sightseeing, pampering, relaxation and learning.
