Goldy's Run 10 Mile top finisher story

Melissa Gacek was a 1st place winner of her age group and place 3rd overall at the 2019 Goldy's Run 10 Mile. We asked her some questions about her race.

How was your Goldy's Run race?

Melissa: I am happy with my place and working with a teammate of mine. It was fantastic to hear so many people cheering for us. I was a little overheated and dizzy the second half of the race, I think the temperature shift and hills did me in for some reason. But it was worth sticking it out to finish into the stadium. I loved meeting the runners pushing the strollers...they motivated me to run for those kids.

What was your favorite part?

Melissa: I love the race atmosphere, it's very organized and professional, and it's great energy to be on campus and run in such a scenic area.

What is your goal for 2019?

Melissa: Compete for Team USA in a world’s masters championship event as a masters runner.

When did you start running?

Melissa: in high school

What inspires you to run?

Melissa: It's meditative, efficient and I've made so many life long friends from running. And I love the way I feel after running (usually LOL)
